ANNIVERSARY HIGHLIGHT

1L2A7115.jpg

CELEBRATING 17 YEARS
WITH DOROTHY "DIZ" PETTIT!

Diz grew up at the bowling alley, spending time with friends, meeting new people in leagues, and working on her old Pontiac in her spare time. While employed at the lanes in White Oak, she found a way to combine her love of bowling and hands-on work by learning to maintain the machines she still services today.

Since joining the Club, Diz has come to value the strong sense of community. From league nights to summer days with campers, she has built lasting relationships—especially with the younger members she teaches to bowl and keep score. Watching them grow and celebrate milestones, such as their first strike or birthday party at the lanes, remains one of her favorite aspects of the role.

Diz brings creativity and care to everything she does. Throughout the year, she transforms the bowling area with festive and cheerful displays—featuring summer suns, Halloween pumpkins, autumn leaves, and holiday colors—adding a warm and welcoming touch that members enjoy each season. A talented sewer, she has also created and gifted nearly 100 custom hats for young members over the years, always taking the time to ask their favorite color.

Above all, Diz takes great pride and enjoyment in keeping the lanes running smoothly. She describes working on the historic and complex bowling machines like solving a big puzzle. The ongoing challenge keeps her engaged, and her passion for the craft continues to grow with each repair and discovery.

Baby Shower Event

"Everything was wonderful for the baby shower yesterday. The staff was professional, calming and polished. The menu was perfect, food was delicious and compliments to chef and baker of cake. I want to thank you personally for your expertise, availability, flexibility and  planning with us as we were a family from out of town. I loved how you added the blue pram on cards to describe food on buffet--very unexpected and a nice touch!
Specific team shout outs below: Caster- team captain was incredible, calming, Karlos- bartender. Jeissy, George, Maria, Miriam- servers that helped with anything, so appreciated"

Author Dinner

"I just wanted to say what a great job you and the club staff did at the Author dinner.  It was really wonderfully executed.  My mother in law described the servers as "like a ballet performance" because they were so well orchestrated.  Thank you!"

"We Chevy members were so proud of and happy to share our Club with our friends."

"Thank you and your incredible teams for all your hard work and for tending so thoughtfully to all the details."

"Jake- thank you for your flawless organizational skills, your patience, your ever positive attitude and for putting all the many pieces together to make this day run so smoothly. Your day of organization was impeccable- from the Scottish music playing, to your warm welcome and clear play instruction to the actual start and the award and swag presentation. Please extend our thanks to our golf pro team and caddies for all their help too! Sydney, we'd be remiss if we didn't thank you too for your counsel and encouragement with the swag selection!"

"Jake and Christine, the day ran smoothly too because of your behind the scenes communication."

"Christine, What a treat it was to roll off our gorgeous course to be greeted by the beautiful luncheon area! The table settings, the spectacular floral arrangements (thank you Abby!!!- so perfectly coordinated with our color theme. One gal asked to buy an arrangement!), the Table cards (so festive and pretty!), the pink tee cups display on the buffet table...so many thoughtful details that blended together to make our luncheon extra special. The food, from soup to popovers to chicken pot pies to chocolates...was absolutely delicious. The servers were kind and attentive and even took initiative to gently let us know what was gluten free. They were an exceptional crew. They worked so hard and yet made us feel that they too were enjoying the day.
How are we all so lucky to be part of this amazing community where we are so well cared for and with such kindness."

"The thoughtfulness of all who had a hand in this event is what set this day -and sets Chevy -apart."

STAFF APPRECIATION

"I want to thank the staff and members for being honest and very helpful! I lost my precious sunglasses, I think in the parking lot, but wherever they were found and are being taken good care of by the front desk staff.  We have such a great club.  I'm impressed every day!!!"
