Executive Chef Joachim Buchner, CMC

Executive Chef Grant
22 YEARS, RICKY SALGUERO
Long before Ricky began his career at Chevy, he discovered a passion for cooking while watching culinary shows as a child. Born in El Salvador, he moved to Northern Virginia when he was 6. His interest in cooking never wavered, leading him to a high school culinary program, where his talent and work ethic helped him stand out and secure his first kitchen position at The Tower Club in Tysons. He continued his education at NOVA Community College, and a placement program brought him to Chevy Chase Club in 2004.
While completing his coursework, Ricky trained in every Culinary outlet, including banquets and pastry. Impressed by his dedication, former Executive Chef Joachim Buchner, CMC invited him to return full time after graduation. Just seven years after first joining the Club as a student, Ricky was promoted to Sous Chef, a significant achievement for his young age and a testament to his skill and growth as a culinary professional.
After spending two decades learning and growing in Culinary, Ricky transitioned to our Purchasing Department two years ago, giving him more time to pursue opportunities beyond the Club, including cooking at prestigious golf tournaments across the country. His experience includes annual events at Quail Hollow, twice-yearly events at Pebble Beach and the past 10 Masters Tournaments. He looks forward to reconnecting with culinary colleagues each year and values the collaborative environment, where chefs of all ranks and titles work side by side toward a shared goal.
Although his role has taken him beyond the kitchen, Ricky’s connection to the Club remains as strong as ever. Having grown from a teenager into an accomplished professional during his years at Chevy, he is deeply grateful for the opportunities, relationships and support the Club has given him. That appreciation continues to guide his work today, as he looks for meaningful ways to give back and contribute to the place that has played such an important role in his life.
Outside of work, Ricky enjoys playing soccer, cheering on Washington, D.C. sports teams and spending time with his family, especially on beach vacations.
Congratulations, Ricky, and thank you for your many years of dedication, hard work and commitment to Chevy Chase Club.

ORME WILSON CUP
The Orme Wilson Cup is a longstanding international competition featuring a team of Oxford and Cambridge players against players representing the United States. The Cup is one of the stops on the Oxford/Cambridge team’s tour of the U.S., which culminates with the historic Prentice Cup competition against Harvard and Yale.
In this year’s Orme Wilson Cup, Club professionals Calvin LaForrest, Uros Petronijevic, Sultan Kenes, Hernan Hatem and Celia-Belle Mohr were among those representing Team USA. The competition delivered plenty of excitement, with the match tied 6–6 before coming down to a deciding doubles tiebreaker. Team USA prevailed to capture the Cup in dramatic fashion.
Congratulations to Team USA on a terrific victory, and especially to our Chevy players for representing the Club exceptionally well. We are proud to have such a talented group of professionals competing together and contributing to an exciting win in this special international tradition.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC CLUB FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT
